Ichirou Mizuki, Japan’s “King of Anime Songs”, has confirmed that he will be attending Anime Festival Asia 2008 (AFA08) and will perform live on stage on Saturday, 22 November 2008 as part of the “Anime Live” zone. Visitors to AFA08 will be able to catch the one of the most famous Japanese performer who has a 40-year career as a singer and who will be performing for the first time ever in Singapore.

Known fondly by the public and anime fans as “Aniki” (meaning big brother), Mizuki-san started his career in 1968, and sang his first anime song for the theme of “Genshi Shonen Ryu”in 1971. Since then, he has performed over 1200 songs including songs for “Mazinger Z” “Captain Harlock” and Tokusatsu (meaning live-action superhero TV) theme songs, such as “Masked Rider” and has gained international recognition as Japan’s most prominent  Anime performer in his 40 year career as a singer for Anime songs. He has won countless awards and accolades for his colorful career.

In 1999, Mizuki-san held a “1000 songs concert”, one of the most amazing events in the history of music where he sang 1000 continuously for 24 hours. His popularity is not limited to Japan, having performed internationally at anime events and on various TV shows around the world. Mizuki-san proved to be also extremely trendy as a performer where he worked with French DJ Dimitri From Paris, to release “BOKURA NO MAZINGER Z” (Black Version, 2003)’, and ‘Disney’s “EV’RYBODY WANTS TO BE A CAT” (2005).

1968

Debut from Columbia Records Japan as pop singer.

1971

Released first animation theme song of Shotaro Ishinomori’s “Genshi shonen Ryu” .

1972

Released “Bokura no Barom 1”(Theme song of “Chojin Barom 1”) and received the Colombia Records’ Golden Disk “Golden Hit Award”. Received this award for more than 10 times after the first award.

Go Nagai’s “Mazinger Z” started. The sale of the theme song was over 700,000 disks at least.

1973

Received the “Golden Hit Award” for the achievement with “Maginger Z” sales.

1975

Received the “Golden Hit Award” for the achievement with “Ganbare Robokon “ (1974 Theme song of “Ganbare Robokon” ) and “Kamen Rider Stronger no Uta” (1975 Theme song of “Kamen Rider Stronger”). *Kamen Rider=Masked Rider

1978

Released “Captain Harlock” (1978. Theme song of “Uchu Kaizoku Captain Harlock”) with full orchestral accompaniment. Received the “Golden LP Award” for his album release.

1986

“Jiku Senshi Spielban” started. Performed the role of the father of Spielban, Dr. Ben.

1994

Received “Golden Disk Special Award” to commemorate his 25 year singing career.

1997

Ending contract with Columbia Records Japan to seek further possibilities.

Released the album “Super Robot Wars Vocal collection”. This was the beginning of the “Super Robot spirits” tour that is now held every year for thousands of enthusiastic fans.

1998

”Anime Japan Festival” started as Anime Song Festival. It started having “Super Robot spirits” as core, and developed to “Super Hero spirits” for Tokusatsu songs and “Super Anison spirits” for overall anime songs.

1999

Main acting role as “Voicelugger Gold” in the television show which featured a story originally written by Shotaro Ishinomori .

Completed the “1000 song concert” that he has sung 1000 songs continuously for 24 hours.

2000

Anime song singers’ unit “JAM Project(JAPAN ANIMATION SONG MAKERS)” was created.
In order to concentrate on his solo activities, he decided to work on an ac hoc basis for the
JAM project.

2001

Live performance in Hong Kong at the “Hong Kong Character Showcase” convention. The audience in Hong Kong welcomed Ichirou Mizuki with great enthusiasm. They sang his song along in Japanese. His visit was covered in many famous magazines in Hong Kong.

2003

Partnered French DJ Dimitri From Paris to release the self-cover of “ Bokura no Mazinger Z(ending theme of “Mazinger Z”), “BOKURA NO MAZINGER Z (Black Version)”,

2004

Movie “ZEBRAMAN” directed by Takashi Miike. Sang “ZEBRAMAN no Uta”.

2005

Released “EV’RYBODY WANTS TO BE A CAT” (theme song of Disney Animation“The Aristocats”) with the produce of DJ Dimitri From Paris.

2006

Appeared in the BBC TV program “JAPANORAMA”.

2007

Held “Anime Japan Fes in HK 2007” in Hong Kong. “Super Anison spirits” and “Super Robot spirits” was held. Over 100,000 hits were recorded for the website of the broadcaster “JP TIME TV” where the record of this live was released.
Released the ending thema of the new Sentai series of “Jyuken sentai Gekiranger” called “Tao”.

In the main venue of “JAPAN EXPO” in Paris, performed for the opening live of “JAPAN EXPO AWARD.” Being featured by various media in Paris, and also he served as “Anime Song ambassador”and reported the Animation scene in France for the Japanese TV program “Manga ga Sekai ni Tsutaeta Mono (what Manga spreads to the world) - JAPAN IS COOL!-”

2008

Held “Ichirou Mizuki 40th Anniversary Live -Michi-“. Released various 40th anniversary CDs including best album “Ichirou Mizuki Best”, CD-BOX “Michi-road”,and self-cover album “WAY-GRAND ANIKI STYLE-”.
